Papaya — The Tropical Fruit That Digests Itself (and Helps You Digest Everything Else)
Papaya is one of the few fruits with a genuinely functional relationship with digestion. It contains papain — a powerful proteolytic enzyme that breaks down proteins, tenderises meat when used in cooking, and actively supports your digestive system when eaten fresh. The flavour is sweet and gently floral, with a soft, almost buttery texture and a warm salmon-orange colour that deepens as it ripens. Unlike many tropical fruits, papaya's sweetness is never overwhelming — it has a clean, delicate quality that makes it as appropriate at breakfast as it is in a savoury salsa. Our BIO papaya is grown in Spain without pesticides or chemical fertilisers and selected at the right ripeness stage to arrive firm and develop its full flavour within 2-4 days at room temperature. Rich in Vitamin C (one serving covers over 100% of daily needs), Vitamin A, folate, potassium, and antioxidants including lycopene and beta-carotene.

How to tell when it's ripe
Unlike citrus, papaya keeps ripening after picking. Wait for the skin to turn mostly yellow and press gently near the stem — ripe gives slightly, like a soft avocado.
-
How to cut & use Papaya
Halve lengthwise and scoop out the black seeds and membrane with a spoon. Slice or dice the remaining flesh, or scoop it straight from the skin.
-
How to store Papaya
Unripe: room temperature, out of direct sun, 2-4 days to ripen. Ripe: refrigerate, use within 3-4 days. Cut fruit: airtight container, use within 2 days.
To enjoy Organic Papaya, cut it in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. You can slice or cube the fruit and eat it with a spoon, or add it to smoothies, fruit salads, and exotic desserts.
Organic Papaya is grown without pesticides or harmful chemicals, giving you a clean and healthy product. You can enjoy every slice with confidence, knowing you’ve chosen an environmentally friendly fruit.
