Mollar — The Pomegranate That Doesn't Fight You Back
Mollar de Elche is Spain's most planted pomegranate variety, and once you eat one, the reason is obvious: unlike most pomegranates, where the seed inside each juicy aril is hard and gets spat out, Mollar's seeds are genuinely soft and tender, almost unnoticeable as you chew. That single trait changes the whole experience — instead of a fruit you work through carefully, this is one you can eat by the handful. The flavour leans intensely sweet with low acidity, less sharp than tarter varieties. One thing worth knowing: pomegranates are not climacteric, meaning they don't ripen further once picked, so what arrives is as ripe as it'll ever be — no need to wait. Skin colour on Mollar can range from pale yellow to deep red depending on growing conditions, so rely on weight instead: a pomegranate that feels heavy for its size is a good sign of juicy arils inside.

-
How to tell it's a good one
Pomegranates don't ripen after picking, and Mollar's skin colour varies naturally, so don't judge by shade. Pick it up — heavier for its size means juicier arils.
-
How to use Mollar Pomegranate
Score the skin into quarters, break it open underwater to avoid staining, and separate the arils from the white membrane with your fingers.

How to store Mollar Pomegranate
Whole fruit: cool, dry place, up to a month, or refrigerate for up to two months. Arils: airtight container in the fridge, use within 3-5 days.
Eat the arils by the handful, seeds and all — Mollar's soft seeds mean no spitting required. Great on their own, over yogurt, or scattered on salads.
Rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and fibre, grown without synthetic pesticides — one of the most nutrient-dense fruits you can eat by the handful.
Foarte bune, complet dulci fata de cele din Romania care sunt usor acrisoare.
foarte gustoase!
