Lamb Hass — Everything You Love About Hass, Just Bigger and Later
Lamb Hass is a deliberate cross between Hass and Gwen, bred in California specifically to extend the Hass season into the summer months when the original variety starts to run out. It shares almost everything that makes Hass popular — the same rich, creamy, nutty flesh, the same easy-to-peel skin — just in a noticeably larger fruit with flatter, more squared shoulders that set it apart at a glance. Like Hass, colour is a genuinely reliable ripeness signal here: the dark green, pebbly skin darkens toward black as the fruit matures, one of the few avocados where you can trust your eyes as much as your hands. Because it ripens later in the season, it's a useful one to know if you find yourself missing Hass in the gap before the next crop comes in.

When can it be found on our website?

-
How to tell when Lamb Hass is ripe
Like Hass, colour helps here — skin darkens from dark green to near-black as it ripens. Confirm with a gentle squeeze near the stem.
-
How to cut & use Lamb Hass Avocado
Halve lengthwise around the medium seed, twist apart, remove with a spoon. The rich, creamy flesh mashes or slices cleanly, just like Hass.

How to store Lamb Hass Avocado
Unripe: room temperature, out of direct sun. Ripe: refrigerate, use within 4-5 days. Cut half: wrap tightly with the pit in, or brush with lemon juice.
Use it anywhere you'd use Hass — mashed for guacamole, sliced for toast, or diced into salads. Its larger size means fewer avocados needed per batch.
Rich in monounsaturated fats, potassium, and vitamin E, grown without synthetic pesticides — the same solid nutritional profile as Hass, in a bigger serving.
